SARA GARDEN ARMSTRONG: Layered Scapes is the final exhibition of ONWARD, presented by Steffany Martz. 

New paintings by this multimedia artist are manifestations of her decades long exploration of the physicality of breath.  Both the vitality and subtlety of this essential action are beautiful, raw, and abstract for Armstrong; the paintings are created with a unique process of acrylic stains and pigmented fiber on canvas. Time and improvisation are evoked through the layering of transparent passages, using systems of mapping and complex combinations of color and material. The work makes evident a calligraphy of movement, capturing the essence of change and the ephemeral nature of perception.
